Trompe l’oeil ( from the French expression “deceive the eye”) is a technique born in the 15th century from the encounter of the Italian perspective with the Flemish realistic paintings.
The students will be introduced to the most celebrated trompe l’oeil artworks and will learn how to create the illusion of 3D image on a 2D surface understanding how to use perspective and light&shade using black and white paint. You will bring home a canvas you will paint with acrylics during the class, which will create the illusion of a bas-relief sculpture.
